Submission Guidelines
About Us - Submission Guidelines
We publish reporting and essays on a wide range of topics related to the Seven Cities and beyond. We also feature political commentary, interviews, arts and literary criticism, fiction and poetry.
In our initial launch phase, we are unable to pay writers. We are grateful that leading journalists, essayists, novelists and poets in the Seven Cities and beyond are graciously supporting our endeavor with their contributions, and we hope you will consider doing so, too. We hope to be in a position to pay modest rates in 2009.
We also plan on launching a print edition of TReehouse early next year. Contributors will receive a complimentary one-year subscription.
We have not set strict minimum or maximum word lengths, but we do offer these guidelines.
- Reporting—750-3000 words
- Essays—500-2000 words
- Political Commentary—750-1000 words
- Q&Q - Style Interviews—750-2000
- Arts Criticism and Book Reviews—750-1000
- Fiction—up to 2500 words
- Poetry—up to 200 lines
For longer pieces of non-fiction, we recommend sending a query letter first. Give us an idea in three or four paragraphs of what you want to write and how you plan to approach it.
We ask that you refrain from sending pieces that other publications are already considering.
Queries and full-length submissions should be sent via Word attachment to info@thetreehousemagazine.com. Please be sure to include your full name, address, email and phone number on the piece itself as well as in your email. We will respond to you, but please be patient.
Thank you for your interest in TReehouse: A Magazine of Possibilities.
