Last year, the suicides of two acquaintances and my powerful response to a recently published book and two recent films spurred me to write an essay about loneliness. This week, with the generous assistance of my dear friend B.J. Leiderman, I recorded a reading of that essay. Given the tendency for many people to slip into depression around the holidays, it seems just as timely now as it did when I wrote it.
